Infectious Magazine:Hi Casey! Thanks so much for taking the time to speak with me. How are you?

CD: I'm great, I'm just wrapping up my new album I've been working on for a long time, and planning a tour to SXSW and back. Very excited.

The biggest superstars in the history of music all have a distinct image. Of course, we all know that great talent (usually) leads to success as an artist, but having a unique and recognizable image is what takes an artist from being unknown to being a superstar. For example, before she became a worldwide icon known as Lady Gaga, Stefani Germonatta was fronting a rock band and performing in bars in New York City's Lower East Side. After achieving little success, she transformed her image into the Lady Gaga persona, and the rest is history. And here at OurStage we have our very own superstar in the making, Casey Desmond.

Casey Desmond won me over as a member of my team, Team Adam, on NBC's The Voice. Though she left the show in the final week of battle rounds, Casey's still going strong. She dropped by recently for a chat – here's what she had to say about her experiences on the show, what she's been doing since her farewell, and that trademark hair.

Let's start before The Voice. Tell me about your musical history.

I'm kind of a music baby. I grew up in a musical family. My parents are both artists; I have two younger siblings and they're both musical in some way. We just grew up in that world and anything else seems weird and foreign. It's a really awesome world. I'm super lucky and appreciative that I have supportive family and friends, and I feel really embraced by the Boston music scene.

Casey Desmond landed a place on Adam Levine's The Voice team with a blind audition performance of 'Born This Way' by Lady GaGa. However, the red-haired singer narrowly missed a place on the live shows following her battle round duet with Jeff Jenkins, who was an early favorite after all four coaches vied to work with him during the audition rounds. The pair performed Elton John's classic track 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' and although the coaches told Casey she gave a great performance, Adam ultimately decided to award the win to Jeff.
